Takasago (dolls of an elderly couple) represent lasting love and longevity, as in the familiar phrase “Omae hyaku made, washa kujuku made” (until death do us apart). They hold a broom (to sweep away evil) and the husband holds a rake (to rake in good fortune). This type of doll is commonly used as a gift for celebratory events.
The dolls come with a display case that has a black frame and a gold background.
